maybe its not a new idea, but i havent heard of it before. while walking from the back of magic island to the parking lot, i thought it would be cool if cars were detachable.
in other words, if you had a van, youd park, then the front would detach and youd have a little electric cart. when the cart detaches the back compartment seals closed with a drop down or rolling door.
am i lazy or what?

Buster's Gone to Heaven
R.I.P. Buster 1991-2009
When I first bought Buster, he was the sleepy cat in the middle of the pen at Pearl Ridge Petland. Other kittens were rolling and play fighting around him, but he was just chillin', almost ready to topple over into a kitty nap.
Me and my gf of the time used to carry him around in a white espirit bag at Hawaiian Brians when he was a kitten, he used to cry when we werent home, so we made a little litter box in the back of my 87 honda civic and took him to Brians or the Drive In with us.
He survied 2 other younger cats (Baby and Yuki) and 6 ex-girlfriends.
I had him almost 1/2 of my life.
About a month and a half ago he started to disappear for the whole day, then I noticed that his front right paw wasnt moving properly. The vet said 18 was like super old, that most cats only live to 15.
Last tuesday his leg wasnt looking so good so I took him to the vet and the vet said he was suffering.

After reading the Honolulu Weekly about Aquaponics I have decided to try my hand at it. I have started a blog here: Adventures in Aquaponics

What if cars were invented today?
A thought occured to me. What if cars were invented today; to say that they didnt exist til today. How many safety features would be required and how much more advanced would cars be today?
It seems really reckless the way things are now. I think we would be required to pass much stricter tests and pay higher fees a the least. 100 hours of driving to get a license.
Lets talk technology. Non of this bullshit $300 for a reverse camera (that cost $50 in parts). I bet there radio frequency tags and magents would be in use. It seems CRAZY that at any time, i could sneeze or fall asleep and cross the center line and cause a 5 car pileup at any given time. Or that someone else might pass out and ram their vehicle straight into my car car.
I think if vehicles and driving were to debut in todays world, our roads would be safer. Magnets embedded in the road creating invisible lanes that an equiped car and on-board computer would read and not allow the car to pass over (unless a 'override button' was pressed. RFID tags and detectors to note what cars are around you and possbily tracking what car hit yours and ran away. Heads Up Displays (like in jetfighters) that show pertinent information on the windsheild, so you dont have to look away. Combined with RFID and internet wifi we could track whos in what car, their 'feedback rating', stolen vehicles, etc.
If I cant have the flying car future we were promised, at least improve our vehicle technology to 'state of the art'.
What do you think it would be like if cars were only to become available today?

beginnings superconnected part 4
The next month was a flurry of activity. Having already pre-planned alot of things for the business plan, all it took was a lot of phones calls to set things in motion.
1) turn on the power.
2) transfer business phone from home office to store.
3) buy desks, chairs, display counters, computers, paint, mops, brooms, tools, cash register, open sign, store signs, office supplies, the works.
With the help of friends, we took apart the old radio shack walls, primed, and painted the walls. I wanted to create a unique vibe to the place and had made a mock up that was included in the business plan. Wood floors, black walls, different artists showcased every month. Heck, I even moved my salt water fishtank into the place. The dream was coming alive.
In under a month we had painted the walls, built the computers, programmed the cash register, ordered the signs, wired the network, connected the T1 and were ready to open...

Brewing Apfelwein
I brewed a batch of apfelwein after posting about brewing beer. Its super easy and super cheap to make. All you need is 6 gallons of apple juice (costco = $24), some dextrose from the homebrew shop ($2), and a packet of montrachet wine yeast ($2). Let it sit for 30 days days at under 80' and bottle!
I tried the apfelwein a little early the other day (after bottling & priming for carbonation) and it doesnt have much taste but has a huge kick! At 8% ABV it'll knock your socks off before you can say "this only cost $0.35a bottle to make?"
I've already started the next batch recycling the yeast, but this time with 12oz of pureed fresh raspberries.

party like a (fake) rockstar!
i succumbed... after years of resisting, i finally bought guitar hero: legends of rock. just couldnt resist the $40 clearance price at rey's store. since buying that bundle, i have bought another guitar (for my wife to use, since shes getting into it too) as well as more clearance priced (thanks, blockbuster!) $30 guitar hero: world tour and $30 rock band 2.
now we can join the unwashed masses and pretend to be (fake) rockstars on our (fake) guitars
